About Morzine
Morzine is an old French town in the heart of the Portes du Soleil, with a very attractive centre, and not just a ski resort. Many families have lived there for generations, and now they run all the town’s major amenities, including the ski area! The town is set in a deep valley, and has grown beyond its original heart, but still retains a very attractive flavour.
Morzine is dominated by attractive chalets spread across a river gorge, bordered by partially wooded slopes allowing skiing in poor weather conditions.
There are lots of nice restaurants catering for all kinds of tastes, from the expensive to the basic. There are some very good and tempting shops, and three supermarkets to supply food. All this is within easy walking distance of the apartment.
Morzine is ideally and centrally placed for all types of skiing. Immediately above the town are easy slopes for beginners, with more challenging skiing to be found in Avoriaz, above Les Gets, and on the slopes in neighbouring resorts, all of which are immediately accessible from Morzine itself. – see The Skiing and The Portes du Soleil pages.
We will give you full directions as to how to get to Morzine, ski areas, restaurants both in the town and on the mountains, shops, banks, post offices to cover, we hope, all your questions about your holiday.
